Our Brand Ambassador Furkan Gülcü's Lycian Journey with Deuter
Lycian Journey with Deuter
With Deuter Bag, I made my preparations for the Lycian road, which I have been dreaming of for a long time. I pursued an adventure without using a Hotel & Restaurant with Deuter's Aircontact Core 70 + 10 Backpack, which accompanied me on this journey, with a 25kg load. 15 days' worth of food, clothes, cookware sets, sleeping bag , tent and all my other personal belongings fit into the bag and there was even room left. When people looked from the outside, they thought it was really difficult to walk with so much weight and those who saw me were surprised, but there was something they missed was the bag arrangement and carrying tactics. Now it's time to hit the road...
On the first day, we started from Ölüdeniz and moved towards Faralya. Even though our 13km route had a steep ascent, the bag with all the food and other belongings did not tire me at all. The waist support was so comfortable that I could move as easily as if I did not have a bag on my back. There was the happiness of taking a pleasant walk in the bird sounds and sea view, enjoying the unique views with the support of the batons. Even though the hikers around me and other hikers had no loads, they were getting tired. But there was something they missed: walking in nature and in difficult terrain conditions with a loaded bag keeps you balanced and makes your walk easier.
As the steep climbs on the route increased, we were fascinated by the views and the comfort of the bag also had an impact. We sat facing the view, made filter coffee, and relaxed, while our load was lightened. And finally we reached our first day's campsite. We set up our camp in the Butterfly Valley and reached the area in approximately 5 hours. Our energy was high. There was a hidden waterfall below this mountain. We were curious about it and couldn't wait to quickly grab our Deuter Bag and enter that waterfall. But getting down from here wouldn't be as easy as it looked from above...
We descended from the mountain to the Butterfly Valley by climbing the difficult track, rope descents and descending from the rocks, in an average of 50 minutes. We were surprised by the people there looking at us strangely and asking us if we came down from this mountain. Transportation to Praya was by boat, so they offered us tea and then we headed towards the waterfall. The path to the waterfall was difficult, it had steep ascents. We reached the Butterfly Valley Waterfall with our clothes in our Deuter Bag on our back. It was truly fascinating, there were Butterflies everywhere.
After enjoying the waterfall, the weather conditions started to deteriorate and we quickly climbed down from the mountain again and reached the camping area. When we reached the sunset, we deserved a nice dinner and ended the day with a good sleep.
Although our load decreased on the way to Kabak Waterfall, the rough roads occasionally challenged us. However, these difficult roads did not affect us with the adjustable chest strap and waist support included in the bag. While reaching the waterfall, we sweated profusely as we climbed 400 meters steeply above sea level. I could feel it without a break, and finally we reached the waterfall before it got dark and we forgot all our tiredness by entering the ice cold water.
On the way from Kabak Waterfall to Cennet Bay, we had to go through difficult roads, climbing on stony roads and we thought it would be difficult with a bag. However, when I entered the track, I realized that I did not have that much difficulty, since I had experience in mountaineering, these roads were not challenging for me. The most important factor was the bag, a truly complete performance bag. The bag offers you great comfort.
While I was going from Kabak Waterfall to Cennet Bay with unique views, it suddenly started to rain and I put on the raincoat in my Deuter Bag . At the same time, it was not affected by rain or external factors such as the bag's protective cover.
Due to natural disasters on the route, our passage started to become difficult and we saw that the trees had fallen down and we had to jump over them. Here, the bag did not force us, on the contrary, it made our job easier and we reached Paradise Bay and enjoyed the sea.
And the happiness of finally reaching Paradise Bay was completely different. When the hammock was forgotten, I made a hammock from the outer awning of the tent and we watched Paradise Bay and enjoyed the sea.
The days were starting to pass quickly. We woke up in Paradise Bay and then had a 600 meter steep ascent from the seaside to Pirate Bay. We set off, unaware of what difficulties awaited us on the road. While walking the route, we came across people who got lost and we described the route to them. When they asked how do you carry this bag, isn't it difficult, I started explaining. He wanted to take it and put it on, and as soon as he put it on, he said that there really is no load in this bag, which put a smile on my face. As I climb the steep climb, I am happy that a family I knew from Gey village years ago invited me to their home, and I quickly sweat down the track and head towards Hatice Abla's house.
And finally, we reached the village of Gey and we ate Hatice Abla's wonderful pancakes, took a nice shower and started chatting in the village. Even though she insisted, we stayed for dinner and warmed ourselves by the wood fire. Nature lovers from different provinces started to tell us how difficult it was for them to walk the Lycian way without any camping load. When it started, all eyes were on us. I also gave them good information about the Deuter Bag .
After a 3-hour drive after Gey village, we had to make a long descent from the steep cliff edge. While people here were getting down carefully, my running through those roads caused people to look at me strangely. They were asking how fast you got down from here. Since I was always in the mountains, I had to be careful when descending and the comfort of the bag. And finally that difficult descent was over. The aunt in the village offered us tea on embers, and we rested there.
Difficult roads continued like this for 15 days. We were very relieved that the load became lighter as the roads progressed, and I briefly explained to you the importance of the bag on such long roads. These memories; The sincere conversations of those people will never be forgotten, inviting them to their homes without any interest is truly a beautiful thing, hope you are on the road, stay with nature...
Thank you Deuter
I can say that it is undoubtedly the best in the market in many sports such as Camping , Mountaineering , Summit Climbing , Trekking . It has never let me down, on the contrary, it has made my job easier. I enjoy using such a bag. Even though I have been using it in the mountains for many years, there is not the slightest deformation. This is a bag that can be bought once and used for many years, everything has been considered, thank you for your efforts.
